Career Development Program

Preparing for a Bright Future

The Career Development Program provides opportunities to adults with Down syndrome (ages 22+) to further develop their work skills. This program picks up contracts through various community partners, so work hours and locations may vary per contract. Participants leave each contract with a certificate of completion and a summary of the skills they developed, for use on their resume.

Examples of Completed Projects:

Project 1: Fairfax County Public Schools. 10 weeks. Participants work two days a week for 3 hours a day. Task- Creation of 42 work task boxes for 24 high schools within Fairfax County Public Schools. Location- Springfield

Project 2: Fairfax County Public Schools. 4 weeks. Participants worked 1 day a week for 3 hours a day. Task-Creation of teacher materials for ESY services. Location- Springfield

Project 3: DSANV. 3 weeks. Participants worked 2 days a week for 3 hours a day. Task- completion of various office projects. Location-Oakton

Project 4: St. Lucy’s Pantry. 3 sessions. Participants work 1 day for 2 hours a day. Task- organizing food pantry. Location- Manassas.
