Learning Program - accepting applications now (ages 2-6 yrs)

We are now accepting applications to the 2010-2011 Learning Program, an educational program that teaches parents to be effective "first-teachers" for their children with Down syndrome and prepares children for success in school.  DSANV's Education Committee led a pilot version of this program in 2009-2010, and are pleased to continue with a full program this coming school year.  Sessions are one Saturday per month, and include both parent/caregiver and child ages 2-6 yrs.

We will be offering two classes:

PreK:  60 minute session, parent/caregiver and child work together in classroom with instructors.  Eligible date of birth 10/1/2006-9/30/2008

Level 1:  90 minute sessions, parent/caregiver participates in classroom instruction, while child instruction occurs in nearby classroom.  Eligible date of birth 9/30/2004-9/30/2006

Details about cost, dates, and location can be found in the attached letter, also posted to [1].  Application deadline is 31 July 2010 (via email to tlp@dsanv.org or to the DSANV office).  Enrollment is limited to 24 spaces in both PreK and Level 1; spaces will be filled by lottery.   For more information about The Learning Program, see the video at [2] and visit [3].  For tips and updates, watch our facebook page at [4].
